Food’s day out today. For those of you away from home, mother’s food is what you are reminded of, aren’t you ?
Invasions, trade relations, colonialism and many such historical events have played a big role in introducing new cuisines and spices. On the platter today is a wide range of cuisines India has to offer.
I being a vegetarian, will introduce you to some of the best of things that I have tasted so far. Presenting to you only the best.
These are the top 10 foods that you must have at least once in a life time:
  1. Chole Bhature/Kulcha: The famous north Indian dish, the aroma tempts you to gobble. But the heat gives you the leisure to enjoy and have it slowly. If you are anywhere near Delhi or Punjab. Don’t miss out on it.

  2. Rajma Chawal: The beans Rajma when rightly cooked with adequate spices gives a very tempting appearance and smell. The combination of white basmati rice and Rajma is deadly , I mean heavenly.

  3. Chaat- It is an evening snack and it plays with your taste buds. Dahi bhalla, aloo chaat and papdi chaat of many.

  4.  Masala Dosa-  We are all smitten by this staple Indian food. When served with ghee or butter , the taste is simply exemplary. As a person from south Kanara , I know at least ten different varieties of dosa.

  5. Idli-Vada Sambar– The staple food of south India apart from rice of course. It is healthy ,soft and has a great taste. I meant the idli. Okay? Don’t hog on the vada and blame me for the bulge.
  6. Sweets– We have a humongous variety and I could keep praising it all along. Blame my sweet tooth. Don’t miss out on the mouth watering gulab jamoons, Bengali sweets and the list goes on.
  7. Momos– Popular in the north east is also one of the must taste foods of India.

  8. Samosa/Kachori– These deep fried evening snacks is very famous and very popular.

  9. Lassi- Try it in Punjab or Delhi and you will crave for more.

  10. Ice creams– This one is my favourite. Visit Mangalore to eat the maharaja of ice creams. Visit-Pabbas or Ideal Ice creams. My diet goes haywire at the sight of the ice creams. Sigh!
That’s Tiramisu.
India is a great culinary destination and the country has plenty to offer. You get Chinese,Italian ,Mexican,Thai and Arabic food apart from the authentic Indian food.
That’s me
Indians are known for our hospitality. Any city you drop in you get that touch of mother’s food. Probably because we give a lot of importance and value to family and the precious time we spend with them.
And then to see food in  all its glory, you must travel to some of the temples in South Kanara – Kateel, Dharmasthala or even Horanadu and the golden temple in Amritsar. Great variety and great food with impeccable taste served with all love and devotion  to all the faithful.
P.S : There are so many more I have missed out. Explore and the you are bound to find some new cuisine yourself.
Have a scrumptious day ahead!
